Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 Project Information
(Kohs & Company production model)

The Pennsylvania GG-1 locomotive is the second in our series of classic American locomotives of the twentieth century.  Although this particular prototype has been previously modeled, as with our New York Central J3a 'Hudson', never to the same extent in detail, accuracy and features.  This project is nearing completion and on the next several pages you will be able to follow our development and design considerations.

We are building a total of 150 units, 140 of which will be the standard version. The last 10 units will be part of our special 'Collectors' edition and will differ from the standard version in that they will be powered with a prototypical 'quill' style drive mechanism. This type of drive incorporates 6 pair (12 total) of Swiss made core-less motors positioned as the traction motors were in the original prototype, rather than the twin Pittman motors used in the standard version.  The standard version will sell for $2,800.00 and the 'collector' edition' will sell for $4,000.00, both versions will include a digital sound system, but displays for this project will be an optional extra.

Of particular importance to this project is the body shell.  Sun Jin Models has done an outstanding job of following the direction and information provided in preparing the tooling to press this one-piece brass body.  Each and every contour/radius has been measured for accuracy.  We have modeled all of the most critical body features which because of the problems they present have never been modeled before, even in larger scales.
