AAR FM class 50 Ton Flat Car Project Information

The AAR class FM 53'6" flat cars were among the most common type flats used during the heyday of the steam era with more than two dozen railroads utilizing them in many cases until near the end of the last century. Many road names will be represented in our production as will multiple road numbers for consist building. Shown below are some of the roads that used these flat cars:

Atlantic Coast Line Chesapeake & Ohio Chicago Great Western Monon Chicago & North Western
Clinchfield Denver & Rio Grande Western Elgin Joliet & Eastern Missouri Pacific Illinois Terminal
Kansas City Southern Louisville & Nashville Minneapolis & St Louis Nickel Plate Northern Pacific
Rock Island Soo Line Cotton Belt Union Pacific Western Maryland

Additionally, our plans call for the development of individually available prototypical loads including detailed loading hardware so that our flats can be customized for specific uses. The loads will be of a quality appropriate for our flat car models and not plastic.
